Every year, the first weekend in October, Grandma Kradel invited everyone out to the house for the last official picnic of the year – the annual Soup Picnic. She’d make a big pot of her homemade (of course it was homemade!) vegetable soup, which actually had beef and beef broth in with the vegetables. It was a sort of harvest picnic with the soup being made from the end product of the summer’s garden. If it was nice outside everyone would be outside, if not, the house was filled with steam and people.
This year the soup picnic was held on October 12th and was combined with a celebration of Aunt Joanne’s 85th birthday – which was a big surprise for her!
Note: Images of about half the family. I think I got tired before I finished taking photos!
